Clips settings Merge/Copy - or Replace

Post by mfo »

Hey there

Something is always missing is an alternation of the Merge function, a way to copy over the settings of one clip to another. Could work like dragging with ctrl+shift pressed.

What is it good for?: I play in a venue with a tripleHead setup. So I prepare my deck with clips in this format (12:3). Next day I play in another venue, there is a dualHead setup. Now I would love to replace all 12:3 clips by their alternate versions I made for 8:3. I don't want to set them up again - BPM, Looping, Effects, Cues etc. ... Drag them over their alt. versions with ctrl+shift pressed would come really handy!

I'd like to ++1 this.

I'd prefer to see a focus on this kind of thing in the next release, core functionality that can't be achieved by any other means (rather than, for example, more projection mapping options that *do* have solutions outside of/in conjunction with Avenue).

Aside from 'big hitter' new features such as the projection mapping options and the clip sequencer, of course there are going to be major improvements to the general workflow as well. Selecting and changing multiple clips at the same time, custom render order for masks and effects and transformations, precise input for parameter values, global speed and direction control, and a whole bunch of other stuff are all in the works. A 'replace current clip with another, while maintaining effects and settings' as described above is also part of that.

In short, don't worry, we're on the case ;-)
