I like to keep a hardware mixer for control and use the pc as a tool just as use dvd, vhs & cam as such.
Who uses Resolume (pc directly connected to beamer/screen) without a mixer? And how are you expriences?
-you don't want a lock up without a mixer-
Greetz, RJ
Who of you rely fully on Resolume?
We use various mixers with resolume, partly for the security of being able to mix over to another source (we haven't needed to in ages - well done resolume!), partly because we need to be able to partly because the direction we are going in (multiple indpendent projectors) needs the flexibility that the hardware brings us for routing sources to different projectors.
Anothing thing worth bearing in mind is that, for whatever reason, VJs with only a laptop are simply not taken seriously by the bigger event promotors. These guys expect to see a hardware mixer in there. You might be confident that your software of choice will run without crashes, but the promotor doesn't know what you know. All they care about is knowing that no matter what happens there will not be any 'no source' messages on the screens.
