Live capture has some delay.

Post by djdiego71 »

I use resolume for a complete video system in the club. As a VJ Soft is wonderfull, but when use to display live content (from capture card: some performaces, shows or videoclips from a Pioneer DVDJ) there are a little delay on the image.
The audio of this sources is not routing via resolume, is out from a dj console to the dancefloor and can not change this.
How can reduce this delay?
In videclips I can delay the image, editing the source, is not a best solution, but it's work.
The problem is on live shows. Vocalist seem they are doing playback.

The delay is about capture card? CPU? GPU? Drivers?

any captured Video is going to have delay, it's the nature of the processing of a computer. best you can do is minimize the delay to something that you may deem acceptable. What is the spec of your system including your capture device?

Firewire devices tend to have a big delay. Using a USB or PCI-express Capture Device will minimize your delay. So use a more high-end capture device is the advise. Check Blackmagic for some proper capture devices http://www.blackmagic-design.com/. We will have native support for Blackmagic devices in version 4 to even further limit the delay.
