MAC vs PC

Post by Bang Boom Ben »

I know, the same old story but at the moment more explosive than ever. I'm working with Res3 on PC right now but I need new Hardware.I was convinced to switch from PC to Mac (because of Mad Mapper) until this morning when I saw Res4 will get the awesome Mapping Features (really nice)! So no need to switch because of software-reasons. Does anyone of you have the XP or can make a difference between the two platforms? On which platform Res is better? A big argument for MAC would be the OSC and probably controlling it via iPad - but does that really enhance professional working or is it just a nice feature but not essential to your work? What do you think?

(Ah yeah - I just use Res for Visuals - no Audio Features used).

Check these out
Quartz composer: kineme.net (create visual contents)
Syphon: syphon.v002.info (share visuals from other syphon compatible app)

Hope you can learn what these tools are.
Be creative , more tools to expand.

If you still unsure, ask questions in the Developers forum.

mac is simply more expensive but can use quartz
pc is much cheaper and you can configure it the way you need to, also hackintosh is possible but gives you also restrictions (a mac simply works better on osx with more than 1 graphic card, adapters, etc.. and of course the drivers).

it just depends the way you work, both is the best i think ;)
i got an old macbook pro for my "mac interface", but performance is very poor (but the last macbook with video/svideo out)
normally i use my pc's for higher resolution and multiscreenings (a mac pro would cost too much and is not that expandable or the expansions which are mac compatible are much more expensive! f.e. HD grabber).
