I have a pretty old laptop pentium 3 650Mhz with 192Mb of ram and its standard hard disk. I use it with resolume and it works fine but, some now and then the clips freeze for a while when the hd is reading. Since I can't buy a new laptop I'm thinking of upgrading it with a new hd or more ram.
I have to choose, I can't buy both at the same time.
What will boost the performance more?
The max ram I can reach is 320Mb, I'm more inclined toward buying the ram since the new 7200rpm 2.5 hds are still quite expensive.
Suggestions please!
Old laptop upgrade for Resolume
Hi Sakamoto,
i would suggest to buy a external HD.
since the internal HD is never faster than 4300 Rpm (and since its an old laptop probably slower) and the external HD is also usefull if u buy a new laptop or if u work in a club where the VJ-computer is available.
and to talk safety, laptop HD's have the tendancy to crash faster than the new external HD's...
so its safer for your movies and for backup purposes.
so if you are looking for a long term investment that helps you in short terms, look at what external HD fits your lappie.
or even cheaper, build your own...
good luck,
