OSC xmas wishlist 2012 - nach dem Spiel ist vor dem Spiel

Post by Rene »

While working on my Lemur OSC template, I learnt a lot of Resolume's OSC features and want to share my experience/wishes... (btw. the OSC mapping and 'show the OSC address' feature is great!)

Numbering of the selection for layer transition FX (/layer1/video/mixeroption1):
once you install a custom transition, the whole mapping is lost. Can we have a unique way to address the transitions?

Names, Names, Names:
Is it possible to send the name of a clip when loaded into preview? Like for (activelayer/clip/name)?
And also the names of the dashboard dials? As well as for effects? - This would open up so much possibilities.
And the layer's name. :)
The given name of a clip would also be nice too. At the moment it's the name of the file in the filesystem.

Quicklook:
Quicklook can't be disabled using (activeclip/quicklook 0). It toggles on activeclip/quicklook 1.

Cue Points:
Can we get the location of the clip's cue points (so they can be displayed in Lemur next to the timeline?) And something to set them like (/activeclip/audio/position/pointsofinterest 1 0.45)

BPM Clock:
A BPM tick would be useful too.

Intra Clip Transition:
This seems to be non-linear (OSC 0.5 is not equivalent to 5 sec) - unless this is a well hidden secret of Resolume - scan you please tell me the scale?

I have the feeling that I've forgotten something important - anyhow - looking forward to next christmas! - Until then, I'll try hard to extend this wishlist :D

I think the clip transition would be half of the float value? Float value would be a percentage of the total time (10 seconds). So if float is 0.5, total time is 5 and OSC .5 would be 2.5

Just a guess though

The problem here is the other side of the coin of the situation you describe: how would one address a newly installed custom transition? The way it is now, at least all transitions/mix modes are always accessible. In the rare case that someone adds a custom blend mode, they would have to adjust their workflow/OSC layout, but how often does that occur?

Confirmed and ticket made.

The scale is actually linear, so 0.5 corresponds to 5 seconds. It's just that the slider controlling it is skewed so you have finer control in the 0 - 5 second area, which takes up about 4/5th of the complete sliders range.

As for the rest of your feature requests, I'll ask Edwin to take a look at them, but at the moment we are more focused on getting the current features working as good as possible, rather than adding new functionality

I agree - I didn't think about the other side of this coin ;) . It's very unlikely that someone will add custom transitions... hmm, what about those FFGL unique IDs?

Well, that makes total sense, that's why I put it on my whishlist for christmas 2012 - still 349 days left :geek:
