ok so I've read little tidbits here and there about people being able to mix 2 or 3 fullsize DV files...

Resolution is pretty important to me. I went from analog to dvd and occasionally bringing out the non-linear setup because I cannot stomach 320x240 cinepak or indeo.

I'm not so interested in effects. Just storage of all my video with the ability to mix 2 channels on a laptop using Resolume. Am I out of luck? I'm looking at lappy's in the <$2500 range.

is it out of the question to use squeeze to make fullscreen swf's out of dv files? thanks.

I use shuttle system 2600+Amd, picvideo mjpg, 720x576, and I get 2 layers with a 3rd dropping frame rates, the only problem is resolume plays clips too fast when theres only one layer so you get a slow down when you fade #2 in, a work around is to assign an effect (i use darken) wit the effect turned all the way down, which seems to even everthing out. It might not be full 25, but its close enough for me. I dont know about a laptop though, I dont have one, I go for brawn over portability not that the shuttles are that heavy, I put mine in a record box for transport, and have got an LCD for a monitor, its more than a laptop but less than a bunch of vcrs and tv's which is how I started, I think Im quids in!

Id definately go for a fast external hard drive, if you going to go laptop, good luck!
