So long to start up?

Post by gregsully »

So for me.. Resolume 3 has for as long as i remember taken quite a white to start. It gets stuck at a white screen for over a minute (even two) before it finally gets into the program.. When I installed V4 (beta 2) it booted very quickly into the program. (Yaaaa)... However.. not after running it.. now when i boot its taking super long to start again.. Even longer than V3.. 3-4 minutes of a white screen before the program loads..

Has anyone else suffer from this in V3 or 4.. and has anyone sourced what the program is looking for during all that time? I feel like there is a fix, but I don't know what it is..

Anyone. Anyone.. Bluer.. Bluer.. ?

Hey Gregsully,
hmmmm...yes I had a lot of "startup fun" in the past with V3 too.
But I only had this fun when R3 automatically loads my "mastergrand-composition"...it tooks round a bound 2-3 min....with a white or black interface...closing R3 with this composition was pain in the A** too.

If your R3 takes up to 4min. only for loading a blank composition....I would say:
get rid of your x368 IBM compatible personal computer. ;)

With R4 beta2 my "mastergrand-composition" (800Clips per deck ) loads much quicker...
Stopped the time right now: LOADING 55sec. CLOSING 18sec.... THAT'S GREAT THX RESOLUME!

But there is a "BUT": When I'm using any video-input device....like a Webcam or a SDI inputcard..and this device is already part of the main deck of the composition...it takes round'a 30sec. longer to load.

Shure..after your installation of R4beta the first startup is very quick...that's because R4 only loads a small demodeck...nothing else.

Version 3 composition files are actually quite big, too much information was stored that isn't necessary. In version 4 less info is stored in composition files to increase speed/performance. If you load older compositions and walk through it's decks and save it again it should become much smaller in size. So loading older compositions still takes a while but loading version 4 composition files should be much quicker.
So we did work on it but for older compositions it will look like nothing has improved. Of course we'll try to make things even quicker when we have more ideas to do so.

While Resolume is not the fastest program to start no matter what.. I have solved this issue. The long load times are due to all the Compositions in the Comp folder.. I have a tendency to save up versions in case of corruption, so I have many files there.. Once I emptied the folder.. it starts much much quicker..
