Preview doesn't register USB soundcard

Post by evianne »

Aloha!

I have a manhattan USB 1output 1input soundcard for a second channel to preview songs before I mix them my recordings. It comes with no drivers, software etc. My macbook pro shows the USB, as does the Master output selection on the preferences-audio function. I can even get a second output through ITunes or other programs. However, preferences-audio- preview output on Resolume only shows output 1 and 2 (from my built in audio preferences) and they are dark grey and I cant choose them, much less my USB source (which doesnt even show up under the preview audio options) as my output!!

What to do?
Thanks!

Hi Evianne

Resolume Avenue can only use one sound card at the same time, and so the option for Preview Out will always be grayed out since both your USB card and the internal one only support one output.

You can work around this by creating an aggregate device in the Audio/Midi setup application of OSX. Here you can select that this new device should use both the outputs of the internal card and the USB device. In Resolume you can then set this aggregate device for preview and master out.

CoreAudio FTW!

Hope that helps...

I have created an aggregate sound output in my audio midi setup, selected all options under audio samples and combinations of devices and samples, including the clock sources etc. Also checked that the device was listed in Audio preferences. Renamed aggregate sound device only shows up in these devices under input (in my Pro's system preferences) and does not register as a valid output. Therefore, it does not show up in Resolume avenue as a 'preview' output, nor do I see it as an option under master output etc. If this is a problem for Apple, I understand, but they charge me 50.00 per support call (a real pain) and if others have had this problem, I cannot find so on the internet.

Thank you so much for all of your help!!
