Tearing, Aero and Live FX Processing

Post by levdog »

Hi All,

I'v been using resolume for 3 years now. Not as a VJ, but to playback content for "Rock 'n' Roll" touring productions. So essentially as a media server, before this I had used catalyst. I found resolume had far more features that I actually needed from a media server and was faster to program. Since resolume arena has been available I switched to it immediately. It makes life so much easier. The advanced output Mapping means no more hard mapping everything and re rendering for minute changes to screen positions etc. I also use the timecode feature all the time now.

I have a tour coming up and I would like to use resolume to not only do the content playback but also to effect the live imag feed. I was going to make a 3840 x 1080 composition with the left 1920 fed to one output driving the two HD imag projectors. The right 1920 fed to the on stage LED screens and mapped accordingly. I would keep the sdi input from the vision mixer to the left of the comp (where the imag portion is) and just drop in fx accordingly. Likewise I would keep the content mapped to the right of the comp (were the on stage led portion is). I would also be able to mix and key live camera and content together to either output at any time, just by positioning it correctly in the comp, this is the real beauty of it.

This is the vision. Unfortunately it seems that resolume has an issue with tearing when aero is turned off. The issue is resolved when Aero is turned on. However Aero ads so much latency to the camera feed it's unusable.

Anyone got any experience with the latency under mac? I'd prefer to stick with windows, as I can get better performance, but I'd be willing to switch if I could reduce the latency enough.

Also does anyone have any info on using resolume with the quadro sdi pipeline? Does resolume process the feed straight on the gpu before outputting like the quadro sdi is capable of?

I'm using blackmagic decklink cards at the moment but may switch to active silicon. Does anyone know if these cards are supported?

Thanks in advance.

Kind Regards, Tom
