Animation with one picture per beat

Post by Huhaa »

Hey Resolume Forum,
sorry if there is already an answer to my question, but I couldn't find one. My English is not that good, and maybe I just used the wrong keywords.

My Question: I want to make an animation for Resolume which goes one picture per beat further. Just Single Pictures in a row.
How can I realize it? Which file format? swf, avi, and so on?

Hope you can give me a tip or a keyword/link, where to search. ;)

thanks
Jacob

Hey Huhaa,
take your preferred videocut/animation software...maybe it's Finalcut, Premiere, AfterFX, Motion... doesn't matter.

....lets say you want to cycle 10 pics changing on beat. You have to create for example a 10 sec videoclip with 10 photos. Every photo has a duration of 1 sec. in your clip. Export your clip with the recommended DXV codec.

Insert your clip into Resolume....set the clip from timeline to bpm sync. You'll find this option in the clip transport section. Now you have to set the clip to 10 Beats..because you have 10 pictures.... Now just sync an resync the clip to your music via taptempo or incoming midiclock.

Have Fun.

Hi cosmowe,
thanks a lot. I've already thought about one picture per second, but I wasn't shure if there's no easyier way. Furthermore I missed the option for setting the clip on the number of pictures. Now I found it ;-)

cheers

Hello,
now I have tried some things with this solution, but my problem is, that the clip gets more and more in delay, the longer it is. If the clip is 5 Minutes long, teher is no possibility to match it with the beat.
Is there no other solution?

best regards
jacob

5 Min long?... so you wanna show more than 300 pics?

One question, do you wanna create a kind of photo presentation?...I mean for a small group of persons with one or two defined music tracks?
If yes: You should add the music while you producing to the fotoclips directly.

If no:
There are two ways you can try... you have to figure out the exact BMP count of the music...but even then it's difficult to stay perfectly sync over 5min without touching any gear.

The other possibility is you have to split your 5 min clip into smaller -for example- 20sec parts....now you are able to trigger them manually on beat...then they run sync for 20 sec.... then you trigger the next 20 sec clip and so on and so on.....

Have fun!

Thanks for the answer

No slideshow :-) I'm in an DJ-Team, in most cases we are 2 DJs on stage. In a few weeks, there will be a big party of my girlfriends graduation class.
I wanted to perform with visuals for months and now I am fit engough in Resolume to do it. hope so :-)
And beside the normal VJ clips and loops, I want to play an intro. It consists of an black bg and a lot of tiles of the game "scrabble" (is tile right? I mean the buttons on which the letters are written). The tiles move around the screen, rotate, disappear or change colours and from time to time they form a word, e.g. the names of the students... Resolume gets the MIDI clock from wavesum or TRAKTOR directly and should play picture by picture of this film.

Maybe it just don't work, because the video-files have one picture more than it has seconds, cause in second 0 there is already an picture.

Oh my Goodness, I should have payed more attention in English lessons at school :-)

Hey there,
I found a solution, but it doesn't work yet. The Stop motion effect is doing what i need. But when I press "PBM Sync" in the button "Frequency" only the line from slow to fast moves up and down to the beat. Is there a possibility to set the frequency equal with the BPM?

cheers
