13" Macbook Pro performance issues

Post by ghostdad »

Hi there.

I'm trying out Resolume 4 Avenue on both a dell PC with a good Nvida card and my Macbook Pro with Intel HD Graphics 3000 card in it. (2.3 GHz Core i5 and 4G ram as well).

It appears I can get good FPS on my Dell with Nvidia card. 4 layers of 1080p DXV runs smooth.

When I try to do the same on this macbook with the same clips the frame rate drop considerably. Even two layers cuts the framerate in half.

Searching this forum I found other mac users who had issues but they seem to concern Resolume 3 and the older Macbook Pros that still had Nvidia cars in them. I imagine many Mac users in this forum are on 15" Macbook Pro's with a better graphics card. I hear these Intel HD Graphics cards are comparable to the Nvidia but perhaps my mac setup isn't as good?

My PC is my live video machine and I'm happy with the performance, but I'd like to be able to run Resolume on my Mac too. This will greatly impact weather I buy a 1 or 2 computer license of the program and I can't seem to find other's having issues with this particular macbook. Thanks in advance.

The MBPs with the Intel graphic cards can run Resolume, but they lack certain OpenGL extensions that Resolume needs in order to run at full power. That's why performance is less.
