Getting a clip to play at exactly the correct speed...

Post by markfrancombe »

Im using Res to launch some Art films at a showing... I just loaded them up and realised that they are not plying back at exactly the correct speed.

I kind of assumed that they would play at correct speed (until I changed it)Is there anyway to set the speed to be.. as intended?

What size are the movies and what codec have you used? is there Audio?

What fps are you getting presently? are you just playing them back or mixing them?

What system do you have?

1280x720 (apart from wrong speed, playing fine)

DXV

yes

ahh.. well... that depends on the clip. One goes in at 104 (104 what by the way?) and roughly the correct speed is about 124. Another when dragged in sets itself to 98... another 114...

Im just playing them back actually, what difference would that make?

Jeez was hoping for a "play at correct speed" button... do you really need all that info to figure this out?
;)

I HAVE THE SOLUTION

Post by markfrancombe »

Just incase someone else needs the same thing... I found the solution...

Obvious really,

If your project is set to 120 beats per minute on the middle left hand side, then you must click into the movie settings on the end of the row WHEN THE MOVIE IS PLAYING... and set it to 120. Im guessing that if the BPM is different, then you need to set that different too... only guessing mind... I got what I need!!

Why a clip is loaded at the incorrect speed I dont know, but its a simple fix

You have a few numbers here. Are these the FPS of the Movies?

* I see you have just replied so these are BPM's.

It would make a lot of difference. I suggest mixing lots of layers together and then look at the FPS ;)

Yes, you could have a very old slow system...

What are you playing back from? the Internal disk? If so what speed is this?

Well you are using the correct codec...

you could always put in a feature request... ;)

Im sure i read a thread of yours not so long ago and you mentioned running Version 3.3.2? Always a good idea to get the latest version.

Always worth it :)

Guys, what about switching the clip transport mode to Timeline instead of BPM Sync?
