First gig with Resolume!

Post by orangefunk »

Hi,

I am new to the forum, but just thought I would share my initial experiences of using Resolume. I am not what you call a VJ so my use is mainly to accompany a live band with some kind of thought provoking clips... typically experimental jazz with an ECM kind of vibe (indeed 2 of the peeps are on that label).

I would love to post video but don't have permission yet... :)

Anyway, Resolume totally rocks... didn't put a foot wrong really... i just triggered my own specially made clips (which I made in Resolume via recording and filtering) at certain spots, messed around with filters and key maps (using a Korg Nanocontrol) and set up some really lovely sound reactive clips (using Quartz) in different layers to add variation to loops.... time whizzed by and the concert was done.

Got lots of great feedback of how much the video added to the music, some of the images are quite emotive and add a dimension to the musical experience... and there was even talk about me doing upcoming shows in Italy, UK and the US. :)

Amazing what you can do on a computer nowadays, and I am sure I am only scratching the surface of the possibilities... lovely software Resolume peeps!

Cheers!

PS. I would love to hear from other people using Resolume doing non-VJ work.
