Hi everyone.
I'd like to make my own dmx chart to control 30 layers from a chamsys consolle.
From the DMX Channel sheet I read that every layer uses 37 channels and that layer 1 takes 28-65, layer 2 takes 66-103, layer 3 takes 104-140.
Do I simply have to create a personality for chamsys that as layer 4 on 141-178, layer 5 on 179-216 and so on?
thanks
Alberto
DMX fixture for more than 3 layers
Re: DMX fixture for more than 3 layers
It works exactly as you describe. The auto map is cumulative, so every additional layer has the same controls, only 37 channels higher.

Re: DMX fixture for more than 3 layers
That's great, but what happens if I finish one universe?
Lets say I need 30 layers I would need 2 universes.. how is it going to work?
the thing is that I would need only a few dxm value to control on each layer: intensity, clip and column go would be enough, can I write my own dmx fixture chart?

Yes, in that case you can use the Composition DMX Map.
30 layers? Are you doing some complex mapping setup?

Yes, but with very easy contents.
Most of them are JPG.
I'm gonna test it as soon as I manage how to control resolume through chamsys!

What would you suggest me to do?
Use the full automap personality file or make a lighter one?

Resolume and Chamsys have been playing together well for us - and unless there's something I'm not seeing about your setup, the patch in Chamsys should be pretty straightforward.
Once you've patched your Arena 'composition' fixture profile and selected your 'layer' profile, patch Arena layers until your first universe is full, then with the layer profile still selected in the patch window, hit 'patch it' again and assign the next set of layers to the second universe and so on.
By my count, Arena 4.1 should take up a little under two and a half universes, like so:
UNIV 1 - Composition and Layers 1-12, 28 channels left over
UNIV 2 - Layers 13-25, 17 channels left over
UNIV 3 - Layers 26-30, 321 channels left over
Unless you are running very old Chamsys software or an absolutely massive lighting rig, Chamsys will have plenty of universes left over, so you should be able to patch 3 universes of Resolume with plenty of room left for anything else you might have on your show!
If most of your settings for each layer are the same, you may find it saves you a lot of time to make a Group palette containing all 30 layers at once, which you can use to quickly dial in the settings that every layer has in common.
Hope that helps!

Re: DMX fixture for more than 3 layers
Hi there, thanks!
The patch semms working now.
What abuot the controll?
I mean. So far I've been using chamsys from the "media" to controll resolume.
Now, with 30 layers I got to use them as normal light, right?

And one more thing:
If I want to start from universe 2 - artnet 1 of chamsys, which subnet and wich unput port should I put in resolume dmx preferences?

I patched as you sayd.synapse_gh wrote:Resolume and Chamsys have been playing together well for us - and unless there's something I'm not seeing about your setup, the patch in Chamsys should be pretty straightforward.

Everything is working untill layer 12 (first universe).
but nothing is working from the 2nd and the 3rd universe..
What am I doing wrong?
