[resolved] strobing screens in catalyst 12.6

sorry that my first post is a bug report - actually this reflects the fact I've been getting on very nicely with avenue and arena 4 on 2 projects so far

we've been running arena/avenue 4.01 and 4.1beta (now 4.1 release on 3 different big PCs with ATI cards from 2-6 outputs.
some stability issues so upgraded to latest catalyst 12.6 and now advanced or fullscreen output doesn't work at all - immediate crazy strobing on all displays.
windowed display is fine, even at the full resolution of the desktop.

all machines are win7/64, min 12gb RAM, ati cards 6700 and above.
projects are from 2048x1080 up to 3328x768 (=(2x1024)+1280)

- for one big mapping project I need to use IRMapio on the composition and keystone the whole display using advanced....
I can back-grade the ATI driver but arena was less stable with the old driver.

any help gratefully received!

I got the exact same problem since my HD6900 got updated, on the two machines that we have installed Resolume Arena 4.01. No matter is the configuration of the screens it strobe like crazy, the only way to stop it is Disable the screens, it also do it on single display in Full screen mode. These machines are dedicated for the Resolume MS, there is one more 3D software which is the Grand MA3D, for connection to our MA lighting consoles. Anybody else got this similar problem?

temporary fix is to uninstall your catalyst drivers and revert to version 12.04 (april 06 release)

with Arena & Avenue 4.10 this combination doesn't do the strobing in fullscreen/advanced mode and is stable on 2 of our machines that we've been testing.

on our laptops the mobile ati drivers don't do the strobing thing.

Thanks for the reply!!! Well, this is all good to me we have dedicated servers, so they only run resolume.

We updated our Ati machines, and we are getting some strange rendering artifacts in the interface (also on other apps and the windows task bar itself). Resolume is not throwing errors, and the output itself is not strobing though.

Looks like Ati came out with another bum update, so we suggest holding back a bit with this one.

hey this is my first contribution here

i had the same problem on my Alienware with ATI mobility radeon HD 5850, i was on a big event and the bug just happened there i freaked out, i tougth i was $%#%^&

the SOLUTION is to rigth click on the Arena shortcut, in compatibility tab you should check "disable desktop composition" and "disable windows themes"

this will disable the windows aero theme, After that the screens blink 1 or 2 times and then everything is normal again, this will solve the problem without getting to revert drivers,

im really glad resolume team is working hard on fixing all bugs, Arena seems unstable sometimes, and Arkaos grandvj 2 is coming in january with mapping extension, we'll have to see what will happen

but Arena is awsome too, i wish they make it more stable

This is fixed with the latest ATI beta drivers.
