footage suggestions

Post by patrickjansen »

As a footage developer I'd like to get some feedback from VJs about some things ->

1) I currently have a number of custom made planet/space videos and am considering making them available in Resolume format. Would you prefer a (from black) fade in - fade out start/end or maybe a seamless loop (where possible)

2) Does the format need to be DXV or do you use other formats as well?

i'd say generally speaking...

1) Depending on clip make it loopable and adding things like fades should always be left to the VJ.

2) If your releasing the loops i would say release them to a standard codec like PJPEG, that way its upto the VJ to do what they like with them and then render to DXV.

3) Are you wanting these to be released in the Resolume shop or will these be free download?

Hi Basic
Thanks for the feeback,
1) some could be made loop-able but most may not, i'll check on a case-by-case basis
2) ok, i'll check that codec out. It's mostly because on the footage items pages I see a/the DXV specification so I assumed that most VJ's would want or need that format.
3) They'll be commercial, so ideally in the Resolume shop

If you want to see a sneak-peak, PM me and I'll give you a link to a project where they can be seen

Regards
Patrick

Hey Patrick,

Sorry i didnt see your response, Cool i'll drop you a PM for a sneak peak :)

Yeah using a standard codec like say PJPEG would be good before if your selling them the user doesnt have to just use them in once particular program.

Cheers
Liam
