Resolume or Madmapper? Triplehead or Doublehead?

Post by Eazy »

I have a newbie question. I've been asked to do a video mapping/video mixing performance on a building surface. The surface of the building is about 30m wide and 15m height. I'm thinking to use either 2 or 3 projectors depending on the brightness of the projectors. My questions are:

1. If I use 2 projectors with Resolume +TripleHead2Go the 3rd screen will be used as the interface of Resolume? I'm on Macbook Pro. Or I can use Doublehead2Go and the screen on my laptop doesn't count?

2. I'm still debating whether I should use Madmapper/Modul8 or Resolume. Someone told me that edge blending works much better with Resolume. Is that so?

3. My Macbook Pro is 2.8GHZ Intel Core i7 and 8GB of RAM. Should I stick with 1600x600 (2 800x600 screens) or I can go HD resolution? My plan is to have pre-recorded movie clip playing and have 2~3 layers over it for live mixing.

Please let me know what you think. Thanks a bunch in advance!!

MTH2G and MDH2G will only extend your second display output. Your first display is Resolume´s interface.
You can still use the Matrox TH2G with only two projectors. The third will be dead. But your composition size will be different from using the Matrox DH2G.

I am not sure Matrox DH2G and TH2G can run on HD format.

I would stick with 800x600 basis format. Yes, 1600x600 for dual projectors. Although this is somewhat a low resolution for a building projection, I guess. Image will be so magnified that you may find jaggies or blowing pixels. Well, at least it should be seen from far away as well.
