4 DVI outputs One Card

Post by gradek »

Has anyone used the JATON GeForce 8400GS (2 GPU) VIDEO-558PCI-Quad Video Card?

I was thinking of using this inexpensive board for a 4 monitor output with resolume. I'm hoping to achieve 1024x768 resolution on each monitor. Any experiences from other users would be greatly appreciated.

Alternative 4 monitor solutions would be greatly appreciated. actually need 4+1. This card is PCI and would be in addition to my current 9800GT card.

Will this card work with r3? It probably does not have enough GPU power, but I really only need simple output.

Best,
Martin

Hi.. I have a friend who has used the AMD Radeon HD 5870 eyefinity6 edition with Resolume 3 and it has worked nicely for him. It has 6 mini display ports. So 6 mini DP to DVI adapters are required for your case.

Other solutions , Matrox has an octal monitor solution graphics card M9188 PCIe x16 (since you want 4 + 1)

I've recently stumbled upon Pixell line of products. They seem to be a good line of graphics expansion modules, much more flexible than the Matrox dualhead2go/triplehead2go. The Pixell VP-x4xx has models with 4/8/12/16/20/24 outs. You can check those out also

From personal experience i know the amd dual gpu card(6990) would crash resolume randomly. I don't know about this card but it may be unreliable as well. This card is also alot older. You may not be able to get the performance you want from a 5 year old video card, its cheap but you may not get a great frame rate. You may be able to get an 5870 for cheap on craigslist or ebay as arindamliveguitar has suggested.

Resolume does *not* work with Matrox cards ( it works fine with the graphic extenders though ).

I would suggest to not suggest products you haven't tested first hand ;)
