Export composition with videos in a folder

Post by Electroguepard »

Example:
I have a good composition.
The videos fonts are dispersed along infinity of folders and directories and different HDD's.

Is there a way to export the composition, and save (copy/paste) the used videos into a new folder???

It should be a great idea, if there isn't, for have, or export sessions from one laptop to another and keep clean the HDD's.

The reason we've not gone ahead with this, is that there are more things to it than you'd think.

First off there's the potential of moving insane amounts of highly valuable data at the click of a button. We've mentioned this before, but this cannot be handled careful enough.

Then there's a couple of things that you have to think about, such as duplicate deck names, file names with the same name coming from different folders placed into the same folder, the same file in two decks, the same file copied in a single deck, mac to pc and vice versa etc.

All in all it's definitely doable, but it's a monster to actually get to work properly.

Hmmm...I'm sorry joris...but in my silly little mind......>> ;)

- Create button -Export composition to folder-....
- Scan composition file for decks (one,two,three....)
- Scan composition file for content path and content names
- Create folder with comp-name
- Create subfolder with decknames
- Copy scanned files into created folders
- Initialise bitbased comparison of source and destination files
- Popup question: Delete sourcefiles?
- Copy compositionfile into root directory of createt comp-folder at choosen destination.

Package ready to store.

Yes I know..there is a bit more to do... but basicly? :P
I'm shure that this is even possible whitout touching the sourcecode of resolume...could be an external tool?

greeeeeeting...

Yes, those are the basic steps.

But for instance - Create subfolder with decknames

What happens if I have the same deck name in my comp twice? What if that is because I've just loaded the same deck twice? What if they're actually different decks with the same name?

- Initialise bitbased comparison of source and destination files

What happens if I had the same file twice in one deck? Bit comparison would indicate something went wrong and I'm missing one file.

Don't get me wrong. If you can make a third party solution, feel free to go for it. I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate it! It's just that if we are to give a solution via Resolume, it has to be absolutely fool proof, or nothing at all...
