projector output problem

This is probably embarrassingly simple, but why is there type on the top left of my projector screen, telling me it is display 2 and my graphics card details? Using recent MBP 15" with 8Gig RAM and AMD Radeon HD 6770M - I have searched high and low to find a solution...

Have you searched high and low in the Output menu? And unchecked the option that says "Show Display and Slice Info" ?

As a tip: if you're stuck in any software you don't know that well yet, it helps to say the problem out loud to yourself. If the devs put any thought into their interface, you will usually find one of the words you just said as a menu in the menu bar.

In your case:
"Why do I see my graphic card's name in my output?"

There's no menu option for "name" or "graphic card", but there is for "output". Then checking the options for Output, you'll find Display Screen and Slice Info.

This technique can help you out with a lot of software actually. Especially Adobe's menus are really well structured like this.
