Auto crossfade duration

Post by thedarkroom »

Hi, I would really like to cut instantly between A and B with the crossfader, but the only option seems to be a 2sec fade. Am I missing something?
Thanks!

Did you tried it with layer muting?

Hmm, you mean using the Layer Bypass or Solo buttons? This will turn the individual layers on or off, but I can't see how it can be used to cut between A and B, which is what I want to do.

You can assign a key or midi button shortcut to the crossfader itself. This will allow you to cut left or right instantly.

For example:

LAYER 2 +Clip +Opacity 100
LAYER 1 +Clip +Opacity 100

When you now bypass Layer 2....you'll cut over to Layer 1 ...or did I miss something in your question?

Hey, thanks for your replies.

The problem is that I want to crossfade AND cut. I have a midi controller with a crossfade slider and two buttons to cut from A to B. So there is the option to slide across or cut. Like a DJ set up.

So yes, muting the top layer would cut between A and B layers nicely, BUT the crossfader would have to stay in the middle or else I'd be cutting to black alot of the time [e.g muting layer 2 when the cross fader is faded across to layer 2].

Hmm, I think I'm still stuck, am I not?

Oh my gosh, you want a crossfader to both fade and cut? That is unheard of! ;)

Yeah, come to think of it, this behaviour is kind of silly. I'll make a ticket for it.

I think for now the only workarounds would be to use a combination of Comp and App midi mapping, or Midi and Key mapping.
