blend modes and layers / automatic switching ??

Post by steveRMD »

as i'm working on a show for a band, i am facing this problem:

Switching from one tab to another sometimes i need the blend modes to be set differently for each track. as i often forget to do that in the speed of the concert,i end up with stuff not mixing right (e.g. using add when i should use multiply etc...)

so i was wondering:

is there ANY way to trigger the blend modes (or set them beforehand to get trigerred) when i switch from one tab to another tab !? or any other way i could handle this ??

i already tried to map them to a button on the midi controller (which works) but i tend to forget them anyway because i'm loading the clips for the specific track etc...son a more "automatic" method would be nice.

im happy for any suggestion...

Blend modes are set per composition, not per deck, so there is no way to change this.

What I would do, is organize your decks in such a way that content which needs to be used with multiply will only trigger in the layer set to multiply ( and the same goes for clips that need add, 50mask etc ). As long as you keep them empty when not using them, there's no additional overhead for having extra layers.

Hope that helps.

oh yes i see where you are going with this... having 3 layers set to alpha... and the 3 above to multiply. and only dropping the footage corresponding to those blend modes in there... nice idea ;)

i'll have a look at that and try to figure out a way to use it like this. thanks for the tip !!!
