Master / Slave machine

Post by movebandit »

What about a function, to use one Machine as a Master and others (synced by Network) as slaves. Automatic Function to copy the whole footage from Master to Slaves and do the mapping / playback only from the Master machine. The slaves could appear in the Master machine in advanced Output as another Display.....
okok I know that i can do the sync playback by OSC,Midi or DMX but its nearly impossible to edit, when working on more than 2 or 3 machines....

This is a huge feature and although we'd like to do it, I'm afraid it's not looking like it's going to happen anytime soon.

OK. But you have an Complete OSC intergration (ok the advanced output parameters are missing). All you need to discover is a way to transport the Media Used in the composition to a slave machine.... Is it that hard ?

The imagination of a simple user and the implemantation of a programmer often differs, I know ;-)

We can both imagine it, it's just that we have a better view of what is actually required to get it to work properly. The thing with features like these is that you can either offer them as 100% working, or you can't offer them at all.

Currently the OSC implementation is not suitable for these type of setups, and the dangers and problems with moving those amounts of data has been discussed at length in this forum (most recently here: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=10401&p=40886&hilit ... ory#p40886).

We need to do a LOT of work if this is to become a feature, and there are other issues we have to focus on first.

So our standpoint remains the same: we'd love to do it, but I'm afraid it's not going to happen anytime soon.
