projector purchase advice

Hey all beamerheads, I looking for a little advice. I am looking into buying 3 budget projectors. I have the option for a slightly cheaper 3500 lumes XGA projector, or a slightly more expensive 3000 lumens WXGA, what would you do? I am thinking get the extra brightness...but I am uncertain about the benefits I may be passing up by having the WXGA 16:10 ratio over brightness.
Any advice would be appreciated.

what are you using the projector for?

500 lumens isn't really a lot...what's the contrast ratio like between the two projectors?
