I am trying to work out a way to map circular rings (like a bulls eye with non-projected spaces between each ring) using Arena. I do not know the exact dimensions of these rings so all the mapping will be done on site, so creating some alpha channels would be difficult in this particular situation. I have tried what I can with not too much success so I am looking for some advice.
Besides the initial mapping onto the rings I am also looking for the ability to place effects (like a strobe) on individual rings without disturbing the image on the other rings. I know this could be possible by making some alpha channel images of the rings but to my knowledge you cannot adjust the size of these masks and I do not have exact dimensions to work with.
Any thoughts, questions, anything I didn't describe well enough?
Mapping circular rings
Re: Mapping circular rings
Make each ring have its own layer(Effects). Use the layer input option in the advanced mapper and make the rings shape with bezier curve warping and content that matches the rings. Layer the content in the advanced mapper and mask out gaps in the rings.
Re: Mapping circular rings
Thanks for the input, I think I found my problem. I was trying to use circles laid on top of each other to make the masks and crops and once one was in place it overtook all the others only allowing one visible layer. I was thinking too simply I guess.
I had to make two "C" shape masks and put them together to form the ring (it was easier to make two C shapes than to try to bezier an entire ring). I have a few days before the real thing but the concept is working now from the perspective of the advanced output.
