Other good codec

I would like to know what is a other good codec aside from DVX that make good looking files that play nice with resolume on windows. Problem is that i have files with video length of 30min, 50min and more resolution 1920 x 1080, with Resolumes DVX codec these files are super large. I would like to trim them down a bit.

I love to use DVX for shorter clips since it decodes on the GPU which is great, but for these larger files i am looking for a different solution if possible.
