Video plays faster than audio

Post by alv »

I have a problem. Video plays faster than audio, making any edits I have pre made out of time.

I am using the latest version, all drivers up to date, tried deleting xml file, resolution correct etc etc. Set to timeline not bpm.

I edited video to an audio track in iMove and exported to dxv codec at the correct resolution, 60 fps. Audio is a wav 16bit 44.1k. Plays perfectly in quicktime.

When I drop it into arena what happens is the video plays faster than the audio. I want to use this main video as the backdrop, and cut in extra visuals/effects etc - but as soon as the video is in arena the edits are out of time.

Any help appreciated!

Also I have
- set default import to timeline not bpm
- checked the clip speed/pitch parameter itself, which is found in the clip tab.
- checked the global speed control, found in the top left of the interface
- experimented with different audio buffer sizes

forgot to mention I am using a mid 2010 mb pro 2.66 ghz with 16 gig ram, intel core 2 duo with NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256 MB, running osx 10.7.5

I´ve been thru this before and took me a while to find the solution.
Actually, it seems there are some guides about this in the manual.

Anyway...mainly and most important: DO NOT USE COMPRESSED AUDIO WITH RESOLUME.
When you save your quicktime file, whatever was the origin of the audio file, do not use any audio codec compressors. Make it uncompressed flat.

Thanks for the reply. The audio is uncompressed. As an experiment I tried exporting a video file from iMove via quicktime with no audio and still the same problem. The video plays too fast (I checked this by playing the files side by side on two seperate computers. Any other suggestions?

Scratch that last reply... I just re-exported from iMove via Quicktime with no audio. I *think* it works fine. Before I exported with audio (uncompressed however) and then deleted the audio component using the Command J function in quicktime player - however it didn't make any difference. Exporting this way with no audio from the start seems to work fine. Thanks
