Hi all,
Just got my hands on a new MBP Retina 15 with nvidia 750m.
I installed Arena Demo to check the device's performance.
Mavericks - After triggering 3 layers (from the default demo project) and activating Advanced Output to 1080P, FPS drops to about 43 fps.
Bootcam+Win8.1 - Same as above with 9 layers triggered (from the default demo project) and activating Advanced Output to 1080P FPS - Stable 60FPS.
So what do you suggest? is it a Resolume's Issue or Mavericks?
Mavericks Performance vs. Bootcamp
Re: Mavericks Performance vs. Bootcamp
Hey,
Yeah, i have the same issue. On my old MacBook Pro Retina, i had the same clips running on 60fps, and on the new one, it's varying between 25-32-35 fps.
I need to know how this is happening and how i can solve it.
Thanks.

Did you have the same problem with OSX 10.8?vjmosig wrote:Hey,

Re: Mavericks Performance vs. Bootcamp
Hey kind moderators, any word about this issue?
Re: Mavericks Performance vs. Bootcamp
I've always heard windows ran faster but wasn't as stable.
Re: Mavericks Performance vs. Bootcamp
With a drop in performance like that something is very much going wrong.
We'll look into it, in the meantime any info you can provide would be helpful. Does it also happen without activating the Advanced Output? How many monitors do you have attached? Does it also happen without any secondaries attached?

Re: Mavericks Performance vs. Bootcamp
And are you sure the NVidia card is running? You can use gfxCardStatus (http://gfx.io/) to see which card is in use.
Re: Mavericks Performance vs. Bootcamp
Thanks Joris for your reply,
I have disabled Switching and used the gfxCardStatus to check that indeed the Dedicated is in Use.
It even happens when no screens are phisically attached & while selecting Windowed Output to the same screen.
Although Selecting Advanced Output makes it worse.
It happend With 10.9.1 & is the same with the new 10.9.2 Update.
While triggering the 1st Column from the demo Project it is between 39 - 56 fps and very unstable.
Strangely, When I add 3 new layers above and triggering 3 more clips - Performance gets a little bit better when its over advanced output to second screen, and a little bit worse when outputing a windowed mode to the systems internal screen only.
There are no other programs or utils running in the back
On the same Machine, Bootcamp + Win7 = Resolume works Perfectlly!!
Would love to help with more information as you need.

Re: Mavericks Performance vs. Bootcamp
Just checked another cross platform VJ app.
The problem is exactly the same... Windows = OK, Mavericks = unstable low fps.
I guess this is a mavericks issue.

Well, our field specialist extraordinaire Bonne came across this: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5552235. It seems a lot of people are having trouble with graphic or 3D apps.
It would be interesting to see how well Resolume performs when using gfxCardStatus to force the integrated card?
