Are converters like minidisplay port to hdmi, OS specific?

Adapters like mini display port to hdmi are not platform specific right? They work irrespective of the platform being windows or iOS isn't it?

Correct, not os specific, but sometimes you'll need an active converter and sometimes not, depends on your setup.
