Revive old machine for playback only

I have an old cpu: Asus P5N-E SLI with a GeForce 8500 GT, Core2Duo, used only for playback some flash or capture card + watermark logotype.
Sometime, the DJ needs play some video clips under Virtual DJ, but the 8500 gt is not enough.

We plane to change the GPU by MSI 630GT with 4GB, but the mother is PCI Express v1.0 and this gpu is 2.0.
May be work?
Not much layers or effect will be used, standard 640x480 size output in resolume and Virtual DJ (running only one program at time, of course).

I have R3 installed on a dell d630 with an intel GPU. It runs ok for low res and smaller files.
