Motion Camera Help

Post by BigFatPaulie »

I have a show coming up and we are in the developmental stages right now. We were kicking around the idea of having an interactive booth where people can come up and draw on part of the building using TagTool or possible using a motion camera to make an animation happen like a fireworks effect or something along those lines.

My question is what kind of camera would you recommend to capture a person or maybe 2-3 people at once? I've messed around with the kinect + Quartz a little and but I would have to have each participant capture their skeleton first right? I need something that people could walk up and play right away. Is this even possible? Let me know your thoughts

Thanks

Brian

i think kinect can give you up to 4 users ( i dont remember very well search for it )
but based on my experience the kinect covers and area of 3x5 metters so i would recommend only 2 users
you could use their "waist" "Z" position to ignore people around the 2 main users.

in my apps the kinect takes about 1 to 6 seconds to detect a skeleton so i think its a good solution for instant interaction.

also if you prefer to only use the hands of your users you could try the leapmotion device.
