microsoft lifecam cinema / win 7 / avenue

im having issues i dont seem to be able to get around

i have a microsoft lifecam cinema ( 720p webcam ) and im trying to use it with Avenue on windows 7 pro.

it works fine on my laptop, works with Resolume 2, but will not work with Avenue. ive seen some references on the forum to having to roll back to earlier driver versions for some of the lifecams, but i cant get any of the versions previous to version 3 to install - windows aborts the installation saying there are known compatibility issues ( ive tried various settings in the compatibility wizard )

its very frustrating as i bought it for use with Avenue and the shop wont let me swap it for a different model as its not faulty

does anyone have any suggestions on what i could try? maybe theres a way to disable the program blocking?

ok, semi solved it, but not in a truly satisfactory way.

using the newest drivers, the camera will not work in avenue unless the composition size is 640x480 WHEN THE CAMERA IS ADDED you can then change the composition size to whatever you want but the camera captures at 640 x 480. this happens wether its a new or existing composition.

its not a great solution as it means the camera cant be run at 720p ( all my other cams are able to run at higher resolutions in avenue ) but for now it means its working at least.

i am pretty confused as to why its happening.
