excluding a layer! please help!!
excluding a layer! please help!!
Maybe I am missing something but I've been trying to figure this out for so so long. I have a composition with many small slices and one 'main screen' slice. I would like footage from one layer to play on all the many small slices while the REST OF THE COMPOSITION (layers 2-6) play on the main screen....how can I play the entire composition on the main screen excluding a slice?? (I want to still be able to mix footage from all layers on the main screen while separate footage plays on the small slices that I won't be mixing live because it is premixed) Please offer any solutions!!!
Re: excluding a layer! please help!!
set the many slices' Input source to the layer in Advanced Output - Input Selection , uncheck Layer Opacity.
save & close
turn down layer opacity in composition, layer should disappear from composition, but not from little slices.
(set Ignore column trigger for layer if needed)

Or as a Solution without the danger you mix Layer 1 onto the main screen :
Use the Copy Options of Slices :
Little Stuff :
Slice 1 / 1' / 1 '' / .... ---> layer 1
Main Screen (as manny you need )
Slice 2 ---> Layer 2
Slice 3 ---> Layer 3
Slice 4 ---> Layer 4
...

Main Screen (as manny you need )
Slice 2 ---> Layer 2
Slice 3 ---> Layer 3
Slice 4 ---> Layer 4

Re: excluding a layer! please help!!
Yet another way:
Layer 1: Little Stuff
Layer 2: black out layer - Black slide at 100% Add- I use the [Solid Color with 0% brightness]
Layer 3, 4, 5, etc...: Main composition
If the first layer of your main composition is a solid slide, you can make it 100% Add and skip the blackout layer
In advanced output:
All the slices for the little stuff: Layer 1 and you can enable [Layer Opacity]
Slices for main composition: Composition.

Re: excluding a layer! please help!!
Ooooh, ooooh, I have another one!!!
Route the layer to the slice directly in the Advanced Output ( like in all the others above, but you can leave Layer Opacity checked ).
Set the layers crossfader channel to A.
Leave all the other layers as is.
Set the crossfader itself to B.

Re: excluding a layer! please help!!
This Solution with use of the Crossfader allways is called as a Solution...
but i never will use it...
i need the Crossfader to switch between layers.
But its funny that we found 3 Solutions now^^
