Mapping question need some advise

Post by hive8 »

Hi have a little problem i trying to figure out. We had to map the DJ booth with two little strips bottom and top, now i want one layer only sending to the DJ booth as whole, but since it is cut in a bottom and top section is that possible with just one layer?

Please see attachment.

Please let me know if you have some advise?

Stop me if I sound like a broken record, but why don't you just position it in the composition?

That would be one way, but then it shows up on the back screen as well as well as on the DJ booth, i want it only to show on the DJ booth.

The bottom middle screen would see the content too. I only want it to route to the front screen without being seen on the back screen.

I have no problem in doing this if the DJ panel wouldnt be broken up in two parts, then i can just use the complete comp and route it to layer 1. But since it is two parts i dont see how i can do that, without me routing it to the same layer then masking them and trigger them at the same time.

As example i use the whole comp as input, then route it to layer 1 only, do i have a way to split that in the output transformation?

Ah I see. You want the composition to go to the DJ booth slices, and also to the 'EXLA screen' slices. But a single layer of that comp should only be visible on the DJ booth slices, correct?

In that case I would do the following:

Position the single layer correctly in the comp. It is not 100% necessary, but it will make what comes after easier.

Then exclude it from the comp by setting it to crossfader channel A and setting the crossfader itself to B. There's actually a few ways to go about excluding a layer from the comp, but this is my current favorite.

Duplicate the two DJ booth slices. Keep them in the same position for input and output, but set their input layer to be the single layer.

The single layer should now appear on top of the comp on the booth, but not on the 'EXLA' screen. Downside is you lose blending and comp effects on that layer.

Does that work or did I miss something about your setup?

Hmmm. Now that I re-read your first post, I'm making a lot of assumptions that you do not explicitly state. If what I said makes no sense at all, sorry ;)

In that case could you explain your setup and your problem a bit more?

Hi Joris, thanks for the pointers i figured it out and its working fine now.

So here is what i did

Top DJ -> Layer 1 (input)
Bottom DJ -> Layer 1 (input)

Set Layer 1 (bottom layer) to 50Mask, then you can fade in and do all the transitions, works perfectly now.
Again Resolume is great, just need to play around sometimes till you get it going :)
