Mask for edge blending projector crossover?

Post by bobthebuilder »

Hi all,
I'm having a bit of a mare trying to set this up (I'm sure there is a very simple solution, but as yet I havent stumbled on it!)
I am using Arena 4 with just my laptop screen + 1 other output. this output is split into 2 projectors, and projected symmetrically (one projector is in rear projection mode)
All I need to do is blend the edge where the 2 projections overlap, to avoid a "block" look between the 2.
I tried to do it in the output but all i get is a fully opaque mask without the ability to fade gently. I also tried zooming in on part of a vignette, didnt work. then i tried making a mask in photoshop to put on the master (composition) - couldnt get it going.

Surely someone else out there has done this, whats the trick?!

Many thanks in advance :)

how is your output split?
maybe you could upload the screen setup file.

Hey Bob the builder, by symmetrically, you mean your two screens are the same (you're using a splitter) but facing in opposite direction (mirror), correct?

Here is how you can achieve the soft edge look with one image mirrored on two projectors with a central overlap:
  • - create a new screen & slice in advanced output that won't be connected to any display
    - position and size the new slice to cover twice the area you want to "blend" on your old slice
    - enable edge blend for the two slices (your original slice and the new mock slice)
    - adjust the blend parameters (gamma, luminance, power) until you get your desired effect on stage.
Let me know if that works for you.

Thanks very much, Oaktown, but I can't see an option to "enable edge blend" anywhere :( here is what I've got:

The option is in the [input selection] not the [output transformation]
