Using audio to scratch a video

Post by Nervenet »

Hi everyone !
I can't find the way to scratch a video with the sound amplitude in Resolume. You can plug the sound to a lot of parameters but not the position of the pointer in a video (only with a midi map).
I would like to use a video like a Vu-Meter. At Zero amplitude the video is stopped at the frame 0 and at the max Amplitude the video is at its last frame.
Or while the video is playing the sound amplitude would make it go faster (or slower).
Thanks.

There is unfortunately no option like that for either position or speed.

the video position/speed can however be controlled via midi or osc. maybe someone can make a bridge sw for this.

You could try binding the video height (stopped at the last frame) maybe that could get close to the effect what you would like.

Hi Ravensc.
That's strange that this function has not been implemented yet. It would be really convenient to have real-time control on the position of the playhead and the in & out points of a movie.

I usually do this in After-Effect with a two words expression linking the audio amplitude to 'time'.
Even in Modul8 I can link the external audio to the 'movie shuttle' via the plug-in (at) Sound Router.

Maybe in a future version of Resolume. I will post a request.

Thanks.

Hi Sadler.
Yes this is exactly what I had in mind. I will try this solution but I would prefer to avoid adding some more complexity to my set with tons of external softwares and protocols.
Thanks.
