weird fps problem

Hi,
I have a project with 1 layer of HD clips and 3 layers of HD live feeds (decklink quad).
I have a strong pc (4720k, GTX790, 32G ram....)
i've notice a fps problem which drop down lower than 20fps, and i know that the clip i'm playing right now is QT photojpeg and not DXV.
i've opened adobe media encoder to try convert the file and (!!!) the fps raised up to 50! i haven't done anything beside opening media encoder!
and when i closed media encoder the fps dropped down again!
i do not understand, can someone please explain that to me?
obviously the solution for me is to work with the media encoder open in the background

Not sure why you're getting these results when the encoder is open but why don't you convert the video file to DXV? That should fix your FPS problem.

DXV quality is not good enough,
there are some strange noise around edges even in highest quality.
I can send you an example if you want.

anyway when the media encoder is open i'm getting very high performance from my system even with photo jpeg files.

Why don't you take Joris up on his offer and have him share DXV3 with you: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=10216&p=47847&hilit=DXV3#p47847

You're of course welcome to try DXV3, but to be honest, I'm more interested in why the fps goes up so much when Media Encoder is running.

This may sound weird, but could you try adding a LineScape source ( from the Sources tab ) to your deck? And then let us know the fps with and without Media Encoder on the side?

PhotoJPG destroys all my PC FPS rates, interestingly ProRes plays really really nice.
