Newbie question : Does Resolume can performe this?

Post by Fsuchs »

Hi people.
A quick post to say hello, and to ask a lil question to users and devs.
I'm making track since a longtime now, and i start to fantasize on making visuals matching my music.
But actually, what is really turnin me on is to live perform the visual art in conjonction with the live music performance. I'm doing mostly electro stuff, usin a small hardware rig, with an Elektron Octatrack as a master sequencer.
This is how i see it. I gonna prepare clips or clip progression matching the mood of my track and potentially assigning them to note numbers via midi. Idealy, a loop sliced, the slices assigned to note numbers and when the sequence is played back, each note numbers send out by my sequencer trigs a specific clip.
Would love also that CC numbers are assigned to FX , just like the opacity of a video clip is changing as I'm rising the filter. Same scheme on 8 channel. See the idea?

So now, my question :) Is Resolume a good choice for this kind of use? It seems that the midi is implemented, but it is much more presented as a remote solution than a sequencing option. I've heard a lot about Max/Msp wich offer the opportunity to create that kind of fonctionnality, but i'm not a code engineer :D Would love to focus on the creative instead of the technics :)

Thanks in advance for your thoughts :) And sorry for my english.

When it comes to midi, it makes no difference for Resolume if it's another computer sending midi data, a human turning knobs on an actual controller or your sequencer sending notes.

If you know your way around connecting midi hardware and software, I'm sure you can do what you'd like to do very quickly.
