I must solve this stuttering problem once and for all

first i got a reply the says that this is a known issue and a software problem and now you are saind that there is something wrong with my hardware, i definitely prefer the hardware problem because that is something i can fix.

There are many of us using Resolume out there professionally and I can guarantee you there is no stuttering in the systems I built so even though it may be a known issue it's not like Resolume stutters by default!

No mixed messages here, we are all trying to help you figure out what's causing your stuttering issues so of course there will be many different suggestions and until you have fixed your problem you need to be appreciative of the time people spend trying to help you. It could be software and it could be hardware and it could be a combination of both but until you know exactly what it is it could be anything!

do you have a test sugestion i can make to make sure that is something wrong with my GPU?

You could try EVGA OC Scanner X (http://www.evga.com/ocscanner/) but my recommendation would be to try a different GPU as well as testing your current GPU on a different PCIe slot as it could also be a faulty PCIe slot with unstable power.

Are you overclocking your MB or your GPU?
What BIOS do you have on your GigaByte GA-X79-UD3 MB?

Then....

you can see the read speed on the right (510MB/s) and you obviesly dont know what your talking about.
it says that i cannot Write 1080 50P 12 bit RGB which is 550MB per second!
1080 25p DXV file is like 12MB per second, i can play 40 DXV clips at a time with my hard drive!
please do not reply if you do not know what you are saying.

as you can tell your test is missing all the Read information! For instance, as per the last column on the right, my system can read 2K 12 bit 4:4:4 from my SSD at 45FPS.

This is a friendly and supportive forum and your posts have had a fairly consistent unpleasant and harsh tone so 1) consider yourself lucky people are still trying to help you and 2) in the future heed your own advice and please do not reply if you do not know what you are saying!

Another question, the clips you see stuttering in ... how are they created? Are they your own media that you create and export to DXV? Are they converted clips from another file type or framerate? What is your process for creating these clips that you see stuttering in?

Hi Steve,
thanks for the additional video you've made, but you recorded it with 30 fps. You cannot record a 25/50 fps stutter with 30 fps ....you need to record it with 25 or 50 fps...better 50. Otherwise there will be more stutters in the clip then there actual are.

What about the WIndows processes? Is your system back? I would like to see the whole list of processes while Resolume is playing back a testclip.

I am very appreciative and i saying again thank you and all other members for you help,
but looking at results of 500m/s and saying that i cannot play HD files is unprofessional and could be deceiving for other members reading this post. i stopped the test before it finished calculating the read data but you can still see the read speed and that is whats important, not the uncompressed files handling.

I use 10k comps for shows frequently, with 10K layers.....no stuttering.
I produce all of my content and I am the operator. If the footage is rendered out at 23fps, then re-encode to 60fps, or higher than original, you will see stuttering. In that case it will be the content.
What is your final output? I run to an AnalogWay Acsender48 to 60hz HDX20 Barcos.

As Cosmowe says this is a long time problem and effectively ruins Resolume as a classy deliverer of video in anything but Vj shows, where there is usually so much going on that you don`t notice it. For Theatre / Dance / AV shows it`s often a killer. Probably the most important thing needed with better sequencing show control. Great program but needs a new engine! Any news guys ?

You do realize on the front page on the website it says "VJ software" in bold white text right? Made by VJs for VJs.

Yes, it can be used for other things and has grown to that. There is software much better suited for those purposes, Isadora, catalyst, playback pro, have you tried them?

There has been a HUGE improvement in performance since the 4.2 update ... I would normally run around 30-45 fps before, now I run between 60-100fps.

There are tons of variables that go into what could be wrong with your playback and without knowing specifics it's near impossible to let you know how to fix it. Posting that you have problems using the software other than its intended use and asking for a solution or update is not helpful to the post ....

That's like buying a 2 seat car, trying to fit 3 people in it and complaining there's not enough room, then asking manufacture when they are going to add a backseat.

Best thing you can do for those kinds of shows with Resolume is send the client a sheet with video render requirements (special sizes, codecs and any other info need). I've done this with a ton of corporate clients and successfully weened them off sending me H264 files and they either send me ProRes or DXV and they are completely satisfied with results
