Hey All,
I've been running no problem at 60fps output since I began using Resolume Arena 4 on my current laptop for almost 2 years. Seemingly since the 4.2/4.2.1 update, I'm having issues with my frame rate instantly dropping to 29.9 fps as soon as I plug in an external HD display through my HDMI port. I previously had NO ISSUES whatsoever like this.
I'm encoding my media relatively the same way (ugraded to DXV3.1, Using Normal Quality w/ Alpha) and am puzzled to see the issue occur as soon as I plug in the display, without any media even loaded up.
To be clear:
1. Open Resolume with no external display engaged. Framerate about 60 fps
2. Connect and engage external display connected via HDMI port.
3. Framerate instantly drops to about 29.9 fps
Currently running Resolume Arena 4.21/DXV 3.1 with the latest driver for my GPU.
OS: Windows 7 Professional SP 1 64-bit (updated to most recent security patches/updates)
Processor: Intel® Core™ i7 3740QM 2.7GHz/3.7GHz Turbo 6MB L3 Cache HD 4000
Memory: 16GB Corsair® Vengeance™ DDR3-1600 1.5V (2x8GB, SODIMMs)
Graphics and GPU Accelerator: NVIDIA® GeForce™ GTX 675MX 4GB GDDR5
Hard Drives: Dual 240GB Corsair® Neutron GTX SSD SATA 6G (w/TRIM) [555MB/s Reads] with RAID 0 for Double Read/Write speeds
Can anyone provide some help? Greatly appreciated!
Phil

Check to see if the external display refresh rate is 30hz in your screen settings in windows / nvidia drivers, you should change it to something higher such as 60hz.

How recently around the 4.2 update did you update your graphics drivers?
The "latest" driver isn't always the best for NVIDIA cards. Once a new architecture comes out they stop supporting the old one (anything below the 900 series is now considered "old). NVIDIA only puts out new drivers for their current line of cards to support the latest games. Maybe once in a while they update something for "older" cards, but very rarely and it still isn't always the best solution.
Take a look at this post and then try rolling back your drivers to find out which is best for your series

Are you also sure that somehow the onboard HD4000 isn't being used?

Hey,
I will give the driver roll back a try. I've set the default GPU to the Nvidia card, so I don't think it's using the HD4000.
Thabks for the advice.
