Hey guys,
So I just got the new 15inch retina MBP with the R9 graphics card and experienced a really weird problem.
When I was testing things out with a single HDMI output and DXV 2 content I realised I was getting only 30-40 FPS, even with single layer. Then I remembered that "Use displays as separate spaces" was on by default. So I disabled this and then everything was fine. I was getting a stable 60fps even with multiple clips and layers.
Yesterday, at a show I connected two displays to my machine, 1 HDMI and 1 DVI. The moment I hit advanced output and Arena detected that I was using 2 displays, the frame rate just dropped to 30. Even with no content playing. I even added multiple clips and layers of content but it just stayed at 30fps.
The moment I would disable the second screen from advanced output. It would shoot up to 60fps again. I tried disabling and enabling both screens thinking it was an issue with maybe the source i.e HDMI or DVI.
Then I tried turning ON displays have separate spaces, and everything was fine. I was getting a steady 60fps even with connecting 3 displays i.e 2 DVI and 1 HDMI.
I added multiple layers of DXV content and it stayed at 60FPS.
Any idea what could be the problem here?
I thought displays have separate spaces had to be turned of for better performance.
Thanks
- Josh

It sounds like one of your displays was clocking at 30Hz the first time around. Why don't you test again and check your displays resolution and refresh rate?
And by the way 30fps is great. I get resolume to work at 30fps all the time when I use Datapath X4 units with DL DVI signal and it's rock steady!

Hey guys,
Both my displays were at 60hz
And I realised that if I log out and log back in it stabilises to 60fps again.
Still think its because of the refresh rates?

I had the issue on my Macs, the FFGL sources were added threes times, the removal of them fixed my issue.

Has anyone figured out a work around for this?
I have a second 2015 macbook pro and its having the same issues.
Maybe something to do with the AMD cards?
Everytime I plug in more than one display the framerate is at 30fps without any clips running. Then I close arena log out and log back in and its back to 60 FPS.
Anything?
