Another BlackMagic Question.

Post by Sam_Campbell »

Hi everyone,

Sorry to bore on with blackmagic questions but I wonder if anyone has had any experience capturing live cameras into Resolume with a Blackmagic Decklink Quad?

I have had great experiences using a single capture card via thunderbolt (Ultrastudio) but have a new project upcoming involving multiple inputs.

How did the card handle? How did Resolume handle the inputs? What kind of machine did you have the card running in? What kind of FPS could you achieve?

Thanks in advance!

I don't use a Decklink Quad but I use a Decklink Duo and two Decklink Studio 2 regularly and it works great.

The Decklink Quad will behave like four independent capture cards and you can set each one with their own settings. Latency is minimal but it exists.

Thanks Oaktown, so you have been capturing 4 inputs over 3 cards? Impressive, I would expect a bit of latency of course. How does your system handle it, does it run hot on processing or does your graphics card have to do any extra heavy lifting to keep up with the input cards? I would be interested to know your system specs if you don't mind sharing them. :-)
