a "panoramic" laptop, in case that means a lap with 16:9 screen, is good for vj'ng.
res2b2 is using the additional space of an 16:9 resolution...
i've got the dell inspiron 9100, and its just a pleasure to have a gig wih this machine!

yes it's great to have the master effects all visible, in fact I didn't realise they weren't on smaller screens!
