Audio Visual Default Pack in Res5

Hi,

Does anyone know how the audio visual pack that comes as the first thing you open on resolume 5 are made. Is it just a case of syncing up the visuals with some audio or is there some sort of generative thing going on, especially the 2D stuff as i'd like to do something similar.

just a case
some audio
Not the most flattering choice of words there :)

"By jove, here is some audio that just fell out of the sky. Let me just go through my library of pre-rendered visuals that also fell out of the sky. Ah great, here is one that matches up perfectly. Doesn't require any additional work whatsoever. Jolly good. Into the Resolume example pack it goes. Now where is my butler? I want some biscuits..."

I didn't mean it like that!!!!

I just wrote it in a rush. I think these are amazing audio/visual loops that is inspiring my work. The audio and visual sync up so well I can't tell whether they are generative or whether they are manually synced. If they are manually synced that is some very impressive work! (Generative too!) I'm looking at creating work inspired by these clips and am looking at different tools such as AfterEffects, Processing and Resolume's own FFGL sources.

Sorry for the original posts wording!!!!

Thank you.

No worries, happy you took my cynicism in good stride :)

These clips are manually synced.

When you say generatively synced, I assume you mean that the content would respond to FFT analysis. You wouldn't be able to get these results from the FFT data. Partly because there is far too much going on in the audio track to make such a clean sync and partly because FFT is just peak data of a certain frequency at a particular moment.

If you take a look at the first animation in DW_L3_C2, there is no way that you can let the incoming arrows meet in the center exactly when the next synth sound comes in. Simply because FFT analysis can't possibly know when the next sound will come in.

And in DW_L3_C3, the petal shape in the center only comes in on the slightly higher pitched ends of the synth pattern and on the start of the pattern where it comes in on the lower pitch. It's this slight irregularity that makes the visual pattern appealing. There's no way that you can program FFT finely enough to do a complex trigger pattern like that.

Generative is awesome, but it's still got a long way to go before it can do these detailed types of layering.
