Load image from URL?

I have a dream. A humble dream. Of being able to load still images from URLs, on my local network or the internetz. Refresh rate of a few seconds between each load.
Does this exist as an option via tricks and fixes, or can someone create it? I´ll pay.

If you use Mapio, they have an Instafeed QML sketch...

It grabs images from hashtags you choose.
