I am trying to get the artnet input working on osx.
resolume 4 I can control fine, but r5 does not respond to anything.
I am using an OLA artnet controller via browser window for testing.
same settings I think for r4 and r5,
see video:
on top, in the terminal window you see the tcp dump with full packets for port 6454,
It seems to me that r5 is responding correctly to the ArtPoll and getting no data.
r4 does this fine.
Btw, r5 seems to register the 6454 port even if no artnet in or output is enabled in preferences.
What am I missing here?

Re: can't get R5 ArtNet input to work
Oh my geez, OLA. Props to you to getting that wonderful piece of work up and running.
The really amazing thing in this video is that you've got ArtNet input working on the same machine in R4. I would have expected neither R4 or R5 to respond when sending ArtNet from the same machine Res is running on. It's a bit of a mystery to me how you made that possible. I distinctly remember having to run OLA on one machine and Res on the other back in the days when we were testing the first release of Arena 4.
ArtNet works fine on MacOSX and Windows, as long as you send from a different IP. We regularly take over each other's computer by accident when someone is testing ArtNet output and someone else forgot to disable ArtNet input.

Re: can't get R5 ArtNet input to work
I am running OLA on a raspberry pi so an entirely different machine and IP.
and another raspberry pi on the same subnet receives the artnet just fine.
edit: for the record, the OLA is on 192.168.1.88 - in the tcp dump it shows up as 'pi' , because the mac knows the name, and my mac was on 192.168..1.151

Re: can't get R5 ArtNet input to work
Actually I have gotten resolume to work on the same windows machine, being controlled by titan simulator, while running the capture visualiser all on the same machine...
I don't have the physical controller or lighting console so i used the simulator to practice, I wanted to have the visualiser on the same machine as well so I installed the loopback adapter, and that worked...then i tried resolume via artnet and the titan simulator saw R5 via artnet, and it operated like a dream...
So it can be done i did a manual cause lots of people in the class wanted to know how i had done it. so if you want let me know.

Re: can't get R5 ArtNet input to work
I've done some tests on windows7 on in Bootcamp mode, same issue.
I just can't control R5 from OLA.
my setup is:
192.168.1.88 OLA server sending artnet on 0:0:1 Universe 1
192.168.1.89 OLA listener just for monitoring the artnet on Universe 1
192.168.1.55 Macbook with R5 and R4 Bootcamp Win7.
OLA server on 192.168.1.88 sends artnet fine to resolume 4 and the monitor on 192.168.1.89.
then I stop R4, start R5, and artnet input works for about 30 seconds, R5 stops receiving the packets - I guess the sender doesn't send them because R5 is not replying to Artpoll messsages - R5 is not subscribing ?.
The monitor shows that the sender is working fine for the monitor node.
So I guess R5 is working with artnet controllers which can be setup to explicitly unicast to R5, but not with artnet 3 specification server which need subscription?
Artnet 3 specification says

Artnet 3 specification says
The strange thing is that R4 works fine.ArtDmx packets must be unicast to subscribers of the specific universe contained in the
ArtDmx packet.
The transmitting device must regularly ArtPoll the network to detect any change in
devices which are subscribed. Nodes that are subscribed will list the subscription
universe in the ArtPollReply. Subscribed means any universes listed in either the Swin or
Swout array.
If there are no subscribers to a universe that the transmitter wishes to send, then the
ArtDmx must not be broadcast. If the number of universe subscribers exceeds 40 for a
given universe, the transmitting device may broadcast.

Re: can't get R5 ArtNet input to work
Based on your feedback, we're giving the whole Unicast / Artnet 2 / Artnet 3 setup another look for 5.1.
Re: can't get R5 ArtNet input to work
I found the OLA artnet settings file where setting
always_broadcast = true
R5 receives ArtNet as expected.
