Perspective change with X Y position change

Post by DHoude »

So I have some logos that are large. I want these logos to spin on the Y axis, in the bottom left corner of my screen. So I reduce the scale and change the X & Y position to that corner. All looks great... until I put a timeline rotation on the Y axis.

As the logo spins (Y Axis), it tilts a bit as if the vertical axis is not straight vertical. So it looks as if Resolume still treats the logo as if it was still centered (full size), but the viewing perspective of that clip is what has changed in order to scale it and move it to that corner. So I have to play with the X & Z rotation a bit to get it to spin on a straight vertical axis (by eye, as close as I can get it). I even limit the timeline so the logo always shows forward. Even these start and stop points are off. so I can't just use -90 deg to +90 deg. I have to tweak those Y axis start and stop points after all the other adjustments so the rotation is smooth.

If this was predictable there would be no issue. But as scale and X & Y position changes for each logo, there is some fine tuning needed for each logo. kind of annoying. So is there a true X & Y screen re position for a clip that dose not shift the vertical axis?

Here is how to set it up with a layer router to get the effect you want.
  • L1: Logos set to 0% opacity
L2: Layer Router with L1 as source with layer opacity unchecked
Set the Logo clip on L1 to the scale you want
Set the LR clip on L2 to the X & Y positions you want on you screen
Animate the LR clip on Y axis
That way you can have all your Logos in L1 each set to the right scale and use the same placement/animation by setting the Layer Router clip to ignore column trigger. As an alternative, you can create different placements/animations in L2 using multiple Layer Router clips.

An alternative solution would be:
  • L1: Logos set to 0% opacity
Animate the rotation of your logos
Scale them down so that you see the whole animation in L1
Go to advanced output and create a slice that uses L1 as its video input with layer opacity unchecked.
Adjust the position and scale of your slice.
That way you can use the logos on some or all screens.

Happy holidays!

Or, scale and position your logo then rotate it using FRParameters.

Awesome ideas! Thank you.

As far as the "FRParameters", I am a bit new and did some digging. Are you reffering to the 1210Visuals plugin?

This is a good reminder that there is always many ways to skin a cat with Resolume!

Yes to FRParameter being the 1210Visual Plugin: http://www.1210visuals.net/index.php?op ... &Itemid=58

As a note, you can do all of scale/position/rotation in FRParameter but if you want to do the scale/position with Resolume's Transform then you'll have to switch the order of Video FX and Transform in the stack or you won't see your whole logo when it rotates.
