different videos to different projectors

Post by turiel »

I have two projectors connected via Matrox to my notebook. I want to project separate videos with them but do advanced output (correction) on both with Resolume.
Is that possible? I dont seem to find a way to set a different video in the Output transformation tab of the Output->Advanced menu. It allows to choose what Layer to use, but both projectors are recognized as one screen.
Is this possible? what is confusing me?

You can make two slices, and set desired layer in slice properties. Then one slice must be left 1/2 of output, and another is right 1/2 of output.

what's confusing you, is the matrox shows up as one large screen and its outputs are divided equally from that screen,
so you'd have to place your output slices accordingly as elgarf said for a two output setup.

Thanks. But I don't understand how to set different videos to each slice. I can't choose a different column, only layer, and layers cover each other, right?

When you set layer as source, other layers doesn't affect on it. So you will see only video from this layer. Layers cover each other in composition mode or if you play with layer router.

Thanks. But what do you mean by composition mode? I googled the term and it didnt show anything.
For the record, I'd want to fade between animations (columns) , if you mean I cant do that and just play one video, thats a bummer.

And does this also mean I can't have multiple layers assigned to each projector? I'd still like something like a smooth PNG transparency mask effect sometimes.

You can show video from layer or from whole composition on slice. "Composition mode" I meant, that slice takes video from composition, not from layer.

You assign
layer 1 to slice 1,
layer 2 to slice 2,
So you see on slice 1 video from layer 1, and video from layer 2 on slice 2.

If you want to combine some layers, but still want to show different videos on your projectors, you can use layer router from sources tab.
layer 6 Layer Router
layer 5 Your mask 1
layer 4 Your video 1
layer 3 Layer Router
layer 2 Your mask 2
layer 1 Your video 2
And assign layer 6 to slice 1, and layer 3 to slice 2.

Thanks. I had zero knowledge of "layer router". I'll see if I can get it set up, I understand the the idea of it.
EDIT: I cant find it in the sources tab.

Check that your Resolume version is above 4.2.0.

Sources -> Routing -> Layer Router.

I think I got it, thanks.
You mean if you have two Routers in one column, one will stop "gathering" layers down the column when it encounters another Router down the same column?
