Question about SMPTE support

Recently, I've been looking into in syncing audio and visuals together through SMPTE. I did a bit of research, but I'm still uncertain about certain things. I'll be trying it out on Arena soon, but I do have a question -

From the videos I've watched online, using SMPTE, they sync a single running video (such as motion lyrics) to it directly. Is it possible to play different videos at a different part of the song, if the timeframe for the switch is specified? (Still taking place at the same SMPTE.)

(For example - in one of my columns, I have two layers running videos for the song's verse. Is it possible to switch to another column to run different videos at the song's chorus, if the timeframe is specified?)

In addition, does BPM come into play for SMPTE-enabled videos? A video that I've watched online seems to imply this, but this was done back in 2012, so I'm not sure how updated it is now.

Apologies if this comes off if this comes being a bit sheltered - after exploring a bit into Arena 5 and seeing this new feature, I've been interested in testing it out. Greatly appreciated!

The columns can't be automated to switch on SMPTE,
but you could try the following.
Create different clips for different parts of the song, starting and ending with a black frame.
Set the SMPTE offset for the part 2 clip where it should start running.
Launch all the clips at once in the same column, with ADD blend mode layers. layer opacity at 50%.

this way part 1 clip should end at a given timecode, end with black, and the part 2 clip should not begin to play until its offset, but be on black frame.

No, BPM setting in arena should not affect the SMPTE video playhead.

Thanks for the response! I just tested it on motion lyrics, so far I managed to get things work using the test sample sent in the manual.

My question now is this - Using the SMPTE function, are you still able to loop visuals in the background? Let's say the verse is 40 seconds, but you're planning to use only an 8-second video loop instead.

you could duplicate the clip with different offsets
to different layers, like the method above.

or you could loop the SMPTE signal.
lt's an audio signal after all.

Personally I wouldn't do these. It would be hard to follow. Just create the 40 seconds clip.
